The Skyline Reverb takes the platform that made the Phoenix Fury a fan favorite and pushes it in a bolder, more aggressive direction. Voiced around the later-generation High Plate Skyliner preamp — the later 80’s circuit made famous by players like Robben Ford and Larry Carlton — the Skyline Reverb delivers a smoother, chirpier response with a touch-sensitive character that rewards dynamics and picking nuance. Where it departs hard from the Phoenix Fury is in the power section: the 50w and 100w versions swap in EL34 output tubes in place of the 6L6s, shifting the amp’s personality toward a more aggressive, British, mid-focused tone. The 22w stays on 6V6s, but still carries the Skyliner voicing and the added gain on tap, so even the smallest version in the lineup pushes further into rock territory than the Phoenix Fury allows.

Both channels retain their respective preamp ‘gain’ controls combined with a ‘ratio’ control on the back panel, acting as an independent master volume for each channel. Switch channels with the mini toggle on the front of the amp or with the included footswitch, which also provides the ‘preamp boost’ available manually on the back panel.

The on-board tube-powered spring reverb carries over in full — send (dwell) and return (level) controls let you tailor a lush, spacious effect around the notes, from subtle ambience to deep, cascading reverberation. Combined with the Skyline’s chirpier top end and more aggressive midrange, the reverb takes on a brighter, more present character than it does in the Phoenix Fury, especially at higher gain settings.

The ratio controls on the back of the amp remain one of the most useful features on the platform — independent master volumes for each channel that let you dial in serious low-volume tone or chase the feel of a fully cranked preamp without the neighbors calling the cops. The amp is equipped with both a normal input and an FET input for an added transistor gain stage when you want to drive the front end harder, plus the bright, deep, and rock/jazz switches for further tone shaping.
