Dirty Wonderland
August 24, 2020Wonderland Overdrive v2 Combo
May 25, 2021Previously known as the Overdrive Reverb
The Phoenix Fury is one of our most exciting new amp models. Filled with great tones that are offered both clean and overdriven, this amp is extremely musical and loaded with great features to empower you with any tone you desire. The amps clean tone is abundant in character and you will be enlightened with sparkly and bright clarity or mellow out with darker and more rounded clean tones. There is a strong overdrive on board with high output and uncompressed raw bite, empowering you with a voice that cuts through the mix and extends the connection of your instrument. Both channels have their respective preamp ‘gain’ controls combined with a ‘ratio’ control on the back panel acting as a master volume for each channel. The channels are available by engaging the mini toggle switch on the front of the amp or with the included footswitch. The footswitch also offers a ‘preamp boost’ which is also available by the manual switch on the back of the amp.
In addition to the vast tonal flexibility offered by the two channels, one of the most impressive qualities of the Phoenix Fury is its on-board tube powered spring reverb. This amp has the most intricate reverb circuit in our lineup, surrounding the notes of your guitar in a lush, spacious effect that is tailored with the send and return controls on the front of the amp. The send control determines the depth of the reverb and the return control sets the level of the effect in the mix. The reverb is beautifully transparent and fluid with the perfect level of response, and there is more than enough of the effect for even the most extreme levels of reverberation.
A unique feature of the amp is the ratio controls that are located on the back of the amp. These controls are independent master volumes for each of the respective channels and allow for even more level balancing, great low volume tone, or to capture the essence of a cranked preamp. The output of this amp is strong and robust and the additional gain stages provided from the six-tube preamp are quite evident as the complex voice of the Phoenix Fury organically connects with your guitar. The amp is equipped with a normal input and a FET input that adds a transistor gain stage to drive the preamp a little harder. The bright, deep, and rock/jazz switch offer additional tone settings to give one of the best guitar amplifier experiences available today.

Best amp I’ve ever played! I can capture a wide spectrum of tones, which are a saturated sonic palate of pure organic sound and feel.

I’ve had my Overdrive Reverb for a week now, and let me tell you–I am IN LOVE! The learning curve is a bit steeper than other amps I’ve owned, however, once you figure out how all of the knobs interact, you can find incredible tones at ANY volume! The amp feels like nothing I’ve ever played before. I described it to one of my buddies as “being made of magic”. That’s how it feels and sounds. The responsiveness of the amp seems to be there at any volume as well. I am completely blown away! I’ve always been a sucker for spring reverb also, and the ODR delivers in spades. I can’t say enough good things about this amp. My advice if you buy one (as with any amp), use your ears and not your eyes. Twist knobs and truly learn the amp and how things interact. Don’t get frustrated–the tone you want IS in there! Kudos to Amplified Nation for such a tremendous product; I couldn’t be happier.

I’ve only had #091 for not even a month, so I haven’t unlocked all of the amp’s magic, but so far it’s…magic. Before I bought it, I recounted to Taylor my blighted guitar Amp history: basically an ’80s Peavey Minx bass amp until 2022, then a 1965 (not a ’65) Deluxe Reverb. Then the Overdrive Reverb. The quality graph of my amps looks like that of the acceleration curve of a ‘70s turbo car: long, flat line until the end, then it rockets upward. The boost has kicked in!
The clean circuit on the OR is just that: CLEAN. When you play clean well, it’s a beautiful thing. Play hamfisted (guilty) and the OR will — amplify — your mistakes.
Bobby B. is right; when you start digging in, there is a fairly steep learning curve to this amplifier. That’s due to the multitude of settings on the front: EQ, reverb, overdrive, then bright/deep/rock. You can be all kinds of set up on the front, then start tooling around with the ration dials in the back and you’ve changed your tone 180°.
To learn, it doesn’t hurt to start by checking out R.J Ronquillo’s videos to equate his on-screen settings with his tone. It’s like the owners manual for the amp, but on YouTube.
Tonally, I only recently and only after getting my Overdrive Reverb, heard my first Dumble live. It sounded gorgeous, and remarkably like the AN OR. Or is it the other way around?
One more thing: time to work on those bis and tris: this thing is a monster to carry, especially with the WGS!

It’s heaven on earth sound. It’s deep and layered, strong, flexible, and it can growl and be sweet too! It’s the best amp I’ve ever heard, period!!

Taylor was great and answered all my questions. The amp arrived in perfect condition and is very well built. I have only had a few hours with it but it’s immediately beyond my expectations. Nails the John Mayer “where the light is” album. Found myself using less pedals and just switching channels. The reverb on this is great as well.
